In 1855 a very young John Playfair went on his first cattle drive. During the drive the herdmaster, Wil Andersen, taught young John how to shoot, herd and use the lasso. After Wil was viciously murdered during the drive, John and the other members of his team sought retribution against his murderers. It was during this time that he killed his first man at the age of 10. It was this experience with lawlessness that sent him into the army several years later.
