The Deacon

March 4th, 907 TA

Wow, a commendation. My grandpappy would be so proud of me. Not only am I a demon-slayer, I helped stop a cult from sacrificing a mentally-challenged boy... I think. But now even the weather itself is getting weird, as tornadoes are just sprouting from thin air! Hopefully we can stop whatever madness is going on here and bring peace to this weary city.

We had been chasing Deacon around the hill and had cornered him in a second cave. I ordered him and his accomplice, an old woman, to stop and lay down their arms. They responded by beginning to cast spells. I did the only thing I could and charged, with the rest of our party close behind. Korag managed to grapple with Deacon and held him down while Spring slew the accomplice, Ivy. With her down, we focused on Deacon and killed him before his magic could cripple our party.

With the two evil doers slain, we freed Khalid, who was quite upset, as he told us that Ivy was his mother and that Deacon was the head of his church. We realized that Khalid was quite slow in the head, and “convinced” him to show us where the Deacon lived, so that we could take away what we could of his evil gains. He took us on a cart down towards the little village outside of Tuefeldorf.

The path wound up taking us outside of a large church, whose symbols we did not recognize. The church radiated a strong aura of necromancy and we were hesitant to open it. Unfortunately, we didn’t have a ton of time, as the villagers were getting suspicious of us and had called their leader to sort things out. We unlocked the church door and were greeted by the most terrifying sights I had ever seen. I cannot even write down the horrors I had witnessed and all I can remember is fleeing that place and heading towards home.

I arrived at home with Korag, Malika, and Neptune. Apparently Telek and Spring had gone inside while Vance had wandered off and avoided the terrors altogether. Those of us at the house decided to go report to Lt. Greyriver, and she was most thankful for our efforts. She told me that I was to be commended for tonight and for charging the demon in the sewers last night. She also told us that a group of Knights of the Western Reaches had arrived, and that they were going to trap and kill a large group of demons responsible for the trouble in town out to the southeast of the city. Seeing such a sight and being able to assist such mighty heroes was too great an opportunity, and so we found the others, and then headed towards the fight. Unfortunately, we were not able to get to far, as the winds suddenly picked up and out of nowhere, a large tornado appeared just outside of town and headed for the hill where the demons were at. We were tossed around a bit, and although no one was injured, we did not see much more than that, and went back home to recover and prepare for the big day tomorrow.

I hope we are doing our part for the people. I feel like there are much bigger pieces at work than our little party can comprehend, and I just hope we can contribute for the good of the people.
