The Shadowland Empire
The fall of Teufeldorf was masterminded by an extraordinary coalition of the most unlikely of allies. The Brotherhood of the Seven were a collection of powerful figures all bent on one purpose, the destruction of Teufeldorf and the spread of evil and chaos through the Reaches. The ruler of the Shadowland Empire was Baradar (also known as the Ruler of Pentacle, the Dark Man, and the Hermit). Baradar was joined by Demogorgon; Foultooth, Giant Raver of the Thirteenth Covenant; Gruumsch, the Orc King; Valdemar, King of Sandal; Doomcaster, Giant Lord of the Darksouls of Giantshome; and Xystus the Magician, Key to Chaos.
Although massively destructive in its fury, the rule of the Brotherhood and the existence of the Shadowland Empire was very short-lived. Baradar took up residence in Teufeldorf as the King of the Shadowland Empire. His reign was punctuated by brutal tortures and executions of all who had supported King Gregory. The Knights of the Reaches were disbanded, with many of their numbers executed. Trade was almost immediately stopped by the introduction of massive taxes and tariffs. Teufeldorf Castle was closed to the public, and rumors of black summons and vile ceremonies started almost immediately.
In late 833 TA, the return of the Elder Gods heralded the arrival in Teufeldorf of Grim, one of the sons of Hastur. Refusing to pledge fealty to Grim, Baradar was slain in front of the Castle. The Reaches were claimed in the name of Hastur, and the remaining members of the Brotherhood either fled or denounced the Shadowland Empire.
