Originally a fief of the Eastern Reaches, South Province grew in power and independence as the kingdom became weak and decadent. The various petty nobles and the Lord Mayor of the capital town of Farmingham swear allegiance to Irongate. The state is only loosely organized, but it has a strong spirit of freedom and justice based on religious precepts. The peoples are mainly farmers and herdsmen and fisherfolk. In the north there are some foresters.

Long Lake

This body of water is the largest fresh water lake in the fertile farmlands of the Eastern Reaches, and it has many navigable inlets and outlets. Its central position combined with a navigatable river routes makes it a bustling trade hub. One of the most unusual features of the Lake is the people who make their home upon great barges. These folk travel about trading, fishing, and generally earning their entire livelihood upon the bounty of the lake. Being both clever at barter and trade and able fighters as well, these folk are seldom molested. They are said to be skillful thieves by some, but such charges are unproven, although quite possible, and are ardently denied by the bargees.

Silver Wood

Surrounding the bustling shores of Long Lake, the Silver Wood is a well-traveled wood. It's confines are peaceful and serene, and it holds an almost magical calming presence among all who enter its cool confines. Several human towns are built in the confines of the woods, it's townfolk living in relative harmony with the wood. The Silver Wood is named for a small grove of silver oaks which grow on its western shores. This grove is home to a small group of druids who tend to the forest and its denizens.
