Gildor Sundarion
Gildor Sundarion of Welkwood is the son (third of five offspring) of Throndor and Nimloth Sundarion. The Welkwood is a sacred place to the Elves, and they closely guard its secrets. The ancient and noble Sundarion family have long been the caretakers of the this forest. As leaders of the elves in the region, they work to maintain the balance between the Elves, Hobbits, Gnomes, and local Human factions, as well as the wild denizens of the forest. In addition, they vigilantly guard against pirate raiders from the coast and evil forces in the south.
Gildor is particularly curious, learned and insightful, even for a High Elf. He began his studies with the cloistered and mystical Elven tutors of his homeland, and he has continued to excel in his studies since his entrance to the Wickham school of Teufeldorf. It is a rare secret indeed that fails to yield to his intellect and relentless drive for knowledge.
Tall and sturdy by Elven standards, Gildor's appearance evokes gold and silver tones, with the natural grace of his kind. His countenance is piercing when he is deep in thought but softens when he interacts with others.
There is a story of a dispute many years ago between a Sundarion cousin and a certain High Elven merchant of questionable character from the Misty Woods. When a descendant of this merchant, one Llwelyn Wyckham, showed up at the Wickham school, it created some tension with the leaders of the Welkwood. Geoffrey Wickham invited Gildor to the school, in part, as a gesture of reconciliation. To all appearances, Gildor and Llwelyn have thus far kept the peace, and perhaps even improved relations between Wickham and Welkwood.
