Masilda

Little is known of Masilda's birth and early years. Church of the Hearth records show that a female elven toddler was brought to the Open Cathedral by an elven ranger who found the child wandering the woods east of Teufeldorf's Orc Gate. The child was in excellent physical and mental condition without any sign of hardship or life in the woods. A search by the priests did not uncover any clues as to Masilda's parents or prior life either inside or outside the walls of the City-State.

Masilda spent her early years as a ward of the Church. She showed a natural aptitude towards ceremonies and rituals, and several of the younger priests began including Masilda in their services. As a child, Masilda excelled in helping other children - many the unfortunate victims of crimes and misfortune. Soon, she was an acolyte of the Church of the Hearth.

When Masilda was a young woman, she attended her first gypsy fair - it was a crisp October night and The Gilded Lady had just made port to pick up a circus caravan traveling north into Teufeldorf. Masilda was instantly enraptured with the gypsy life, and the teaching of the Bonfire Flock appealed to the young elf. After several years of begging to be allowed to go with the gypsies, her mentors at the Church of the Hearth relented extracting a promise that Masilda would visit each year upon her return.

It was during her time with the gypsies that Masilda's dream talents were recognized. While not a seer or mystic, Masilda clearly had talents well beyond those of most mages. Her primary role aboard The Gilded Lady was that of healer and caretaker - both of physical wounds and to those suffering from mental anguish and terrible dreams. Over the years, Masilda grew into a gypsy - steeped in the traditions of the Old Way.

In 902 TA, Masilda returned to Teufeldorf. Keeping her promise to the Church of the Hearth, she made her way to her old friends. There, she was introduced to Baron Geoffrey Wickham who entreated her to join a school for those with dream talents. He promised her learning and knowledge and the ability to return to her gypsy family at any time. Sensing an opportunity of a lifetime and maybe a way to understand her past, Masilda agreed.
